Spooky Build: our free Halloween build competition

Build something spooky in your own Minecraft world, share a screenshot, and you could win $50. It is free, it is open to every primary and high school student in Australia, and every builder who enters gets a mention in the results.

Your mission: the design brief

Build something spooky. It can be big or small, simple or detailed. What matters is that it is yours and it looks like Halloween. Spooky, not scary: think friendly ghosts and glowing pumpkins, not horror.

The rules

  • Any edition of Minecraft, on any device, in creative or survival mode.
  • The build must be your own work. One entry per builder.
  • Send one to three screenshots. Show us your favourite angle.
  • Keep it family friendly. No gore, and nothing that would upset a younger builder.
  • Leave out real names, gamertags, faces and school names, including on signs inside your build.

How to enter

A parent or carer enters on the builder's behalf. There are two ways to do it, and both count the same.

On Facebook

  1. Find the pinned Spooky Build post on the Unified Care Solutions Facebook page.
  2. Comment with one to three screenshots of the build.
  3. Add the builder's first name and whether they are in primary or high school.

If the build makes the shortlist, we will message you to confirm your permission before it goes to the vote.

On this page

How the winners are chosen

1. Our team makes a shortlist

We choose three to five builds in each category, looking at creativity, effort and how well the build fits the spooky theme.

2. Everyone votes

The shortlist goes up on our Facebook page as an album for each category. Each reaction counts as a vote.

3. Winners revealed

The build with the most votes in each category wins. We celebrate every shortlisted build in our Halloween video.

Questions

Does my child need an NDIS plan or a diagnosis to enter?

No. The competition is open to every primary and high school student in Australia, including home educated students.

We are not on Facebook. Can we still enter?

Yes. Use the form on this page. Entries from the form and from Facebook are judged the same way.

Will my child's name be shared?

Only their first name, or a nickname if you prefer. We never share surnames, faces, gamertags or school names, and we only show a build publicly with a parent or carer's permission.

Can a sibling help?

A little help is fine, but the build should be mostly the entrant's own work. Siblings are welcome to enter their own builds.

Do we have to sign up for anything to enter or win?

No. Entering is free, and winning does not depend on using any Unified Care Solutions service.

  1. Promoter. The competition is run by Unified Care Solutions Pty Ltd, Ballarat, Victoria.
  2. Eligibility. Open to Australian residents enrolled in primary or high school, including home education. Entries are made by a parent or carer. Children of Unified Care Solutions staff may enter for fun but are not eligible to win.
  3. Entry period. Entries open 12:00 am AEDT Thursday 1 October 2026 and close 11:59 pm AEDT Friday 23 October 2026. Late entries are not accepted.
  4. How to enter. Comment one to three screenshots on the pinned competition post on the Unified Care Solutions Facebook page, or submit the form on this page. One entry per child. The build must be mostly the child's own work.
  5. Content. Builds must be family friendly and must not show real names, gamertags, faces or school names. We may remove or disqualify any entry that does not meet these terms.
  6. Judging and voting. This is a competition of skill. Unified Care Solutions staff will shortlist three to five entries per category based on creativity, effort and fit to the theme. The shortlist is posted to the Unified Care Solutions Facebook page, and voting runs from Monday 26 October 2026 to 9:00 pm AEDT Thursday 29 October 2026. The shortlisted entry with the most reactions in each category wins. We may disregard votes that appear automated or fraudulent. If there is a tie, the shortlisting panel decides the winner.
  7. Prizes. One prize per category: a $50 prepaid Visa card or a $50 digital gaming gift card for the winner's platform, at the winner's choice. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
  8. Winners. Winners are announced on Saturday 31 October 2026 and contacted by Facebook message or email within two business days. If a winner does not respond within 14 days, the prize passes to the entry with the next highest votes in that category.
  9. Permission to share. Builds are shared publicly, with the builder's first name or nickname, only with a parent or carer's permission. Facebook entrants who are shortlisted will be asked to confirm permission before voting opens.
  10. Privacy. We use entry details only to run the competition. We contact families about our gaming clubs only if they tick that option. See our privacy policy for how we handle personal information.
  11. No purchase or service needed. Entry is free. Entering or winning does not depend on buying, using or registering for any service.
  12. Facebook. This competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook or Meta.
